The opioid overdose epidemic has had three distinct waves of endemic deaths, with cumulative and long-lasting consequences that have lasted all the way to this very day. With just over 80,411 deaths in 2021 alone, it is certainly not an issue to be trifled with.
But the age-old question returns, what are the exacerbating factors behind this crisis?
World Children’s Day is a day dedicated to celebrating the birth and the rights of children. The reality, however, is that not every child has access to the same rights. Despite the United Nations’ efforts in paving the way to champion this cause by creating agencies such as UNICEF, much more remains to be done to ensure that every child’s rights are met.
